Cisco DOCSIS 3.0 Technologies Help Cox Deliver Ultimate High-Speed Broadband
Residential and Business Customers in New England Markets to Experience Faster Services
Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO)
today announced it has teamed with Cox
Communications to deploy the Cox DOCSIS® 3.0-based "Ultimate
Internet" service, with up to 50 megabits per second downstream, to its
customers in Rhode Island. DOCSIS 3.0 service offers Cox residential customers
faster online access for music and movie downloads, file transfers, video
streaming, interactive live-action gaming and other high-demand services.
Cox is also now offering its New England business customers a new premium
package with the DOCSIS 3.0 technology, offering enhanced support for
corporate e-mail, online research and Web-based business applications.
Cisco and Cox have been working together to evolve the Cox broadband
network to an Internet Protocol next-generation network (IP NGN) optimized
to deliver more social, more interactive and more personalized experiences.
Cox deployed its Ultimate Internet service package with Cisco DOCSIS 3.0
technologies in additional markets earlier this year, including Lafayette Parish,
La., Northern
Virginia (Fairfax County and Fredericksburg, Va.), and Palos Verdes,
Calif.
